President’s Report – Tim
- Update on Lincoln Sports Trails:
-
-
- Successful day on Saturday with 15 or so people. We moved brush piles away from the newest section of boardwalk, planked the boardwalk and cleared some Knot Weed to provide a river view. The lower loop is now complete. Waiting for the official all clear from Lincoln Sports, but expect them to open the trail for riding! This is a huge milestone for LS to have a completed loop after years of work to get it this far. L&D is scheduled to be back later this summer to build the upper loop trail as well. The expectation is to have that open sometime this fall with a Grand Opening event.

- Notes from Tom Lepesquer of L&D:
- 1) We did go out and ride the Hogback Trail segment we highlighted in our meeting but we found very little damage or persistent water. There were a couple of grade reversals that could use some love and the grassy section of the trail near the blueberry fields was a little soft, but overall it was in really good shape so we did not feel going in to perform drainage work would be a net positive.
- 2) On the Oak Ridge Trail we were curious what the plan is to access it from the 125 side. Is that USFS land? could that be something to add for improvements?
- 3) Also on the Oak Ridge trail the 125 side is pretty rough and steep. I know “rugged” is the character that we are going for but it is pretty steep and rooty and I don’t personally think it is the most enjoyable until you get past that initial steep section. That’s just an observation from a potentially biased standpoint but I think that the rest of the Oak Ridge trail is a lot more enjoyable to ride even if it didn’t get the same level of attention as mt moosalamoo during the improvements.
